Welcome to Griffith Swimming Club!
At Griffith Swimming Club, we believe swimming is about so much more than times, medals and results.
It is about our kids having fun, building confidence, challenging themselves, becoming the best swimmers they can be and, most importantly, forming friendships and memories along the way.
We want every swimmer and every family to feel that they are part of our club community from the moment they arrive.
Our club is proudly run by volunteers, and we encourage all parents and families to get involved in whatever way they can. Whether it is timekeeping, marshalling, helping with the BBQ, assisting at carnivals or simply lending a hand when needed, every contribution makes a difference. We know everyone has different skills, experience and time available, and we genuinely appreciate whatever our families are able to give.
Just as importantly, it is our responsibility as a club to make sure every member feels welcome and included. If you are new, please don’t be shy — come and introduce yourself to our committee or another club family. We are always happy to answer questions, show you how club nights work and help you find your feet.
We are very fortunate to have a passionate and hardworking committee committed to creating a positive, supportive and friendly environment where our swimmers can enjoy their sport and thrive.
Throughout the year there are plenty of opportunities to be involved, including our weekly time trials, swimming carnivals, BBQs, fundraising activities and social events. These occasions are not only important for supporting our club — they are also a wonderful opportunity for families to get to know one another and for our kids to see their parents sharing in something that is important to them.
Above all, we want Griffith Swimming Club to be a place where children love coming to swim, feel supported by those around them and are proud to belong.
If you ever have a question, please come and see me or approach any member of our committee. We are always happy to help.
And perhaps one of Australia’s greatest swimmers, Emma McKeon, says it best:
“It’s got to be the enjoyment. You’ve got to find the love for it, because that’s what’s going to keep you going for longer.”
— Emma McKeon
